With an HPFCU Visa Platimum Rewards Card, every dollar you spend on the card earns you one point. These points can be redeemed for travel and/or merchandise. You will have the option to spend the points in whichever manner you choose. The points can be redeemed for merchandise from a catalog, or you can redeem points for any type of travel (airline tickets, cruise line travel, hotel stays, train tickets and/or car rental). 1. What is Member Mile/Rewards Now?
Member Miles/Rewards Now is a unique program that rewards HPFCU Visa Platinum credit card holders for use of their card. This program rewards you by accumulating one point for every dollar spent on the card, and is the most flexible rewards program on the market. This program allows the cardholder to use the points earned in almost any manner that suits them. Points can be redeemed for travel with no restrictions there are no blackout periods or seat restrictions and if you do not have enough points to earn a free ticket, you can redeem your points for credit on your credit card bill toward travel costs. The offering of merchandise rewards increases the flexibility if you do not wish to travel. Rewards Now has special catalogs, which merchandise can be chosen from, and also from time to time offers special merchandise to the Visa Platinum Card holder.
2. How are points earned?
Points accrue at a rate of one point for each dollar of retail purchases with the Visa Platinum card. The maximum points that can be earned annually is 100,000. Points do not accumulate on cash advances, convenience checks, balance transfers, fees (late fees, annual fees, credit life/disability premiums) or adjustments.
3. Why is there an annual fee?
This type of program, which beneficial to the members who choose to take advantage of it, has extremely high administrative costs. HPFCU strives to always offer our members the best value for their money, and this program is no exception. The $35.00 fee is well below the industry standard of $65.00 (some have fees as high as $85.00), and this program is one of the most flexible on the market by giving the cardholder the option of how and where to redeem points earned.
4. What if I carry this card but I never use it, will I still be charged an annual fee?
Yes there are still costs involved.
5. If I want a Visa Platinum Rewards Card, do I have to close my other credit card with the Credit Union?
Absolutely not. The only restrictions that apply are that you credit qualify for the card and the total signature limit including all credit cards, lines of credit, and signature loans at the Credit Union do not exceed $20,000.
6. I currently have a HPFCU MasterCard and I have a large balance. Can I transfer this balance to a Visa Platinum and earn points for this balance?
Balance transfer do not qualify for points.
7. Is there a limit to the number of points I can earn?
100,000 per year.
8. Will my points ever expire?
Points are good for four years (at the end of the year) from the year they are earned. Points are redeemed in the order in which they are earned.
9. I use my credit card for purchases throughout the month, and then I pay if off every month to avoid finance charges. Will I still earn Reward Points?
Yes points are earned based on charges applied it does not matter if you pay off the card, the points are still earned.
10. How do I know how many points I have?
There are several ways. First, you will receive a quarterly statement that will contain your rewards points and activity for the quarter (points added and redeemed). Second, you may call Rewards Now at 1-877-33AWARD (1-877-332-9273). Third, you can view the points online by clicking on the Rewards Card logo on the home page.
11. If my spouse/child/friend/etc. and I both have Rewards Cards, can we combine the points for use?
Rewards Points from more than one account cannot be transferred or combined for redemption purposes. Also, points are not transferable to other credit card programs.
12. I currently have a Visa/Mastercard Credit Card with HPFCU. Can I keep this card and earn reward points?
Currently, reward points are available on the new Visa Platinum Rewards Credit Card.
13. How do I redeem points for travel?
Rewards points for travel must be redeemed in minimum increments of 10,000. 10,000 points is equivalent to $100.00. Simply call the redemption center at 1-877-332-9273 or complete and mail the redemption slip attached to your quarterly statement. You will be sent a travel certificate. After you have traveled, follow the instructions on your travel certificate to receive a rebate credit to your Visa Platinum credit card.
14. How do I redeem points for merchandise?
You must have a minimum of 5,000 points in order to redeem any points. Merchandise is available at increments of 2,500. These points can be used towards merchandise in the current Rewards Now brochure. Simply compare the number of points you have available to the number needed for the item you want, then call 1-877-332-9273 and a representative will take you order. You should receive the item in two to four weeks.
15. I got my Visa Platinum Credit Card statement and I cannot find my rewards points listed on it.
Those points are not listed on your credit card statement. There are other ways in which to determine the number of points you have accumulated. (See Number 10 above).
16. What happens if I close my Visa Platinum account?
When the credit card account is closed, all points are forfeited.
17. I received my Rewards Now statement and there is a reduction in points even though I did not redeem any this quarter.
When merchandise that was purchased on the card is returned and a credit is issued on your account, this will result in a reduction in points.
